In this tutorial, I take the example of a case happened to me some days ago. I was trying to change the background login screen by using an app namely windows 10 login background changer, but ended up unable to access the desktop with infinite black screen. It was so bad, indeed. Couldn't do anything just watched the pc with beautiful black screen all the time. Lol. That flashing black screen, making it impossible to login, what could we do? However, there is a good thing that the app created ''bak'' file which was original file of the ''Windows.UI.Logon.pri'', the file that has responsibility in logging in user to the desktop. Since that file doesn't work properly, user could not log in and access the desktop. We need to repair it by renaming or replacing it as shown in the video below:
There are some possible ways to fix this such as:
- Accessing Windows recovery mode and doing the command prompt.
- Booting from the Windows 10 USB to Repair your computer.
And so forth.
But my favorite way is, using live usb of bootable Linux, puppy Linux. I've used puppy Linux many times to rescue my windows, from windows 7 to now windows 10 cause I really like modifying it to be much cooler, especially in windows 7. Not only very good to help me restoring error in windows due to modifying windows files but also to help me deleting stubborn files that cannot be deleted within windows. Moreover, there are other benefits of using Linux actually.

But, let’s focus in fixing the black screen login.
All you need are:
- Usb storage
- The puppy Linux iso (you can get the iso directly from yumi or just get it from google)
- Yumi, multiboot usb creator
- And other computer, to apply bootable usb linux by using yumi.
It's so easy to do it. Just follow the on screen instruction.
The benefit using yumi is that the usb storage can still be used as regular storage to store our files in that. I just left it there and use the usb as usual function, storing files. And also can be multi boot, means we can add some bootable programs. And other benefits, such as directly download the iso files. The important thing is that don't delete the multi boot folder. It is the folder with files that are needed to boot the bootable programs.
So here it is the process of rescuing windows 10.
Plug the usb storage with bootable puppy Linux.
Just restart or shut down the pc. When it's booting, quickly press e.s.c (escape) then choose boot device options. Find the usb drive, then it will boot the usb yumi multi boot from the usb. Choose Linux distribution and run the puppy Linux. Wait a moment until puppy loads.

Here you need to mount the drives. For c: drive, number 2.
Find the files of ''Windows.UI.Logon.pri'' location at show in the video tutorial
Rename or delete.
If you there is no the original file which is usually renamed at the end with ''bak'', get yourself the original file and put it in the usb. Just drop and drag to copy paste the file.

After finish, shut down the pc, and unplug the usb storage.
Switch on the power button to boot the windows 10.

Bingo, windows 10 is back.
That's it.
What a very simple way to fix windows with live Linux. Better leave the folders of multiboot there in the usb storage so that in case windows has trouble, you can use that to boot Linux and repair it. The usb can still be used as usual, to store files, videos, documents etc. I just left it there, not deleting and renaming the usb. Still good. You can add other bootable programs such as Kaspersky, eset, antivirus rescue, macrium reflect, data recovery wizard, etc.
